Tanzhaus

The industrial building from 1908, originally used as a transformer station, is located directly on the Limmat in Zurich’s Kreis 10. It now houses the Tanzhaus Zürich, a renowned institution for contemporary dance. The heart of the renovation is the 4,000 SF dance hall with a system of foldable panels that allows the hall to be used as a bright rehearsal room with daylight as well as a black box stage using artificial light for performances. All interventions in the renovation aim to express the existing quality of the building as a new identity for the Tanzhaus.
